About us
The European Fire Prevention & Rural Preservation Organization (EFPRP)
Our Mission
A Safer, Greener Future for Europe.
Founded in October 2024, the European Fire Prevention and Rural Preservation Organization (EFPRP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating a safer and more sustainable future for Europe. Headquartered in Toulouse, France, we're driven by the belief that collective action is the most powerful tool for addressing the escalating threat of wildfires and the challenges facing our rural communities.
What We Do
At the EFPRP, we take a proactive, multi-faceted approach to our mission. We believe in preventing disasters before they happen and in building resilient communities that can recover and thrive in their wake. Our work is centered around five different key points.
- Fire Prevention: We aim to work tirelessly to prevent large-scale fires through education, community outreach, and public awareness campaigns. We also aim to invest in advanced monitoring and early detection technologies to identify potential threats before they can spread.
- Rapid Response: One of our goals is to mobilize and equip rapid intervention teams to effectively minimize wildfire damage to both the environment and local communities.
- Independent Investigations: For complete transparency and to better inform future prevention strategies, we independently investigate the causes of major wildfires.
- Environmental Preservation: We actively work to protect natural ecosystems, promote sustainable land management practices, and aim to restore habitats that have been damaged by fire. We also conduct our own environmental impact research to better understand and mitigate the effects of wildfires on European landscapes.
- Certifications & Standards: We develop and offer professional certifications for safe wildfire prevention practices across field crops, personal housing, and various land types. An example is our WP-LSC (Wildfire Prevention & Land-based Safety Certification) Certification, which is built on a foundation of rigorous EU-level research and regulation (Land-based Wildfire Prevention (Publication 4e6cc1f1) - European Comission, 2021).
- Rural Development: We aim to support rural communities by revitalizing villages, promoting sustainable practices, and helping to preserve the rich cultural and architectural heritage that defines Europe's rural landscape.
Why It Matters
In recent years, wildfires have burned hundreds of thousands of hectares of land annually, leading to significant environmental, economic, and social costs. We are dedicated to reversing this trend. By focusing on prevention, response, and long-term preservation, we can protect our forests, safeguard our communities, and create a more resilient Europe for generations to come.
Financial Transparency & Governance
As a nonprofit organization governed by the French Loi 1901 (RNA: W313039674), the EFPRP operates with a commitment to total integrity and accountability. We believe that transparency is the foundation of the trust our supporters place in us.
Ethical Funding: The totality of the proceeds from the EFPRP Shop and all private donations are restricted to the funding of our fire prevention projects, environmental research, and the upkeep fees of our infrastructure.
Administrative Rigor: Our accounts are managed in accordance with French nonprofit accounting standards. Each fiscal year, a formal financial report is prepared and submitted for the approval of our Board of Directors and members during our Annual General Meeting.
Internal Oversight: For the sake of security and privacy, detailed bank statements and ledger records are maintained internally. These records are available for review by any active member of the organization upon formal request to the Administration Department.
Compliance: We strictly adhere to EU GDPR regulations to ensure that the data of our partners and donors is protected with the same vigilance we apply to our forests.
Institutional Integrity & Professional Standards
To ensure the EFPRP remains a trusted leader in rural preservation, we have implemented a robust internal framework designed to standardize our global operations:
Internal Support & Internal Affairs (IS&IA): We maintain a dedicated IS&IA Department responsible for ensuring full regulatory compliance and internal security across all organizational levels.
Whistleblower & Reporting Hotline: As part of our commitment to ethical conduct, the IS&IA Department operates an internal reporting hotline, providing a secure and confidential channel for reporting any concerns regarding compliance or procedural integrity.
Standardized Operating Procedures (SOP): Our organization utilizes a comprehensive suite of internal governance policies to standardize our field and administrative procedures, ensuring that every fire prevention campaign and research project meets our rigorous quality and safety benchmarks.
Data & Operational Security: We prioritize the protection of our intellectual property and environmental data through strict internal security protocols, safeguarding the critical information that informs our wildfire response strategies.
