Junior Web Developer (Volunteer)

While the Head of IT architects the system, the Junior Web Developer builds and maintains the walls. You will work directly on the code and content of efprp.org, ensuring our public face remains polished, functional, and up-to-date. 

This role is perfect for a coding enthusiast who wishes to apply their skills to a humanitarian cause. You will handle the day-to-day maintenance of our web presence, implementing design changes requested by the Social Media team and ensuring that our digital "home" is always welcoming to donors and members.

Responsibilities

  • Implement content updates (text, images, blogs) across the website.
  • Assist in the coding of custom landing pages for specific campaigns.
  • Monitor website performance, loading speeds, and mobile responsiveness.
  • Conduct regular backups and perform plugin updates to ensure security.
  • Identify and fix broken links, 404 errors, and display bugs.
  • Assist in optimizing the website for Search Engines (SEO).
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Designer to implement visual assets on the web.

Must Have

  • Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, and basic JavaScript.
  • Experience managing Content Management Systems (Odoo preferred).
  • Understanding of responsive design principles (mobile-first).
  • Attention to pixel-perfect detail.
  • A portfolio or GitHub repository showing previous coding projects.

Nice to have

  • Experience with PHP.
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles.
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards (WCAG).
