At the EFPRP, our core mission revolves around leveraging accessible technology and reliable communication pipelines to protect lives and communities from the devastating impacts of wildfires.
Today, we are thrilled to announce a major milestone in that mission. Starting next week, the EFPRP’s Wildfire Surveillance & Alerting Hub (WSAH) application will officially begin its full rollout on Android devices.
Developed by our Technical Solutions & Digital Development Division (TS&DD) division, WSAH is built around a rock-solid, mission-critical foundation: delivering real-time wildfire alerts, ongoing situational updates, and official evacuation orders across the European Union (EU) directly to your phone, wherever you are in the world.
What is the Wildfire Surveillance & Alerting Hub (WSAH)?
The Wildfire Surveillance & Alerting Hub (WSAH) is a dedicated emergency alerting and public safety application focused on wildfire activity within the European Union.
Rather than weighing down your device with heavy interactive maps or complex interfaces during an emergency, this initial release of WSAH focuses entirely on speed, reliability, and clarity. The core alerting engine is working seamlessly to deliver what matters most when seconds count:
Real-Time EU Wildfire Alerts: Receive immediate notifications as soon as wildfire incidents are detected or reported within the European Union.
Live Situational Updates: Stay informed with continuous, verified updates as active wildfires evolve, containment statuses change, or local conditions shift.
Official Evacuation Order Relays: Get timely, direct relays of evacuation warnings and mandatory evacuation orders issued by European emergency management authorities.
A Solid Core Built for Future Growth: While this launch focuses on our streamlined core alerting and evacuation relay system, our engineering team is already building out major feature expansions, which will be introduced in updates later this year.
European Coverage, Global Reach: Available in 166 Countries and on 17,000+ Device Models
Even though WSAH exclusively monitors and relays alerts for wildfires within the European Union, wildfires impact more than just permanent local residents. Every summer, millions of international tourists travel across fire-prone European regions, and millions more living abroad have aging parents, relatives, or homes located in the EU.
To ensure that anyone who needs European wildfire alerts can get them without regional app store blocks or hardware barriers, our Technical Solutions & Digital Development Division (TS&DD) has engineered WSAH for massive global compatibility:
Available in 166 Countries Worldwide: Whether you are an international traveler preparing for a trip to Europe before you board your flight, a seasonal resident, or a family member living abroad keeping watch over loved ones in the EU, you can download and use WSAH from 166 countries and territories around the world.
Over 17,000 Supported Device Models: Emergency tools should never require an expensive flagship smartphone. WSAH has been optimized and certified to run smoothly across more than 17,000 distinct Android device models, from entry-level budget phones to tablets.
Broad OS Support: Next week’s full rollout will support all compatible devices equipped with the Google Play Store running Android 8.0 (Oreo) and above.
Our Commitment to Language Accessibility
In an emergency, clarity saves lives. For next week’s initial rollout, the WSAH application will launch in English so we can immediately serve a broad cross-section of residents and international travelers across the EU.
However, given the linguistic diversity of the European Union and our global users, English is only the beginning. Our team is actively working on subsequent updates that will introduce multi-language support, ensuring full accessibility across European and international languages in future releases.

More Exciting News Next Week: The Upcoming EFPRP Developer Program & Developer Center
Next week’s rollout of the WSAH Android app is only the first piece of exciting news we have to share.
Later next week, we will be publishing a dedicated announcement detailing the upcoming EFPRP Developer Program and our new EFPRP Developer Center, both of which are slated to launch later this year.
Created alongside WSAH by our Technical Solutions & Digital Development Division (TS&DD), the Developer Program and Developer Center will provide external developers, civic-tech contributors, and partner organizations with the documentation and tools needed to build alongside our tools and services. Keep an eye on our blog later next week for the full preview of what is coming!
Preparing for Next Week’s Rollout
Once live across all 166 supported countries, anyone with a compatible device running Android 8.0 (Oreo) and above will be able to download the app completely free of charge, without zero ads.
Thank you to our team, testers, and community supporters who helped bring the core WSAH alerting engine to life.
